IMZ International Music + Media Centre, the global network for the performing arts film industry and host of Avant Première, joined forces with Sunny Side of the Doc / PiXii Festival for the third time to showcase the best of performing arts documentaries and digital creations through two highly-coveted pitching sessions. Discover the lucky nominees who will have the chance to pitch their project to the most in-demand decision makers of the industry on 14 February 2022!
Pitching Session "Performing Arts Documentary"
Linear documentary stories exploring any aspect of the performing arts – be it an artist’s portrait or a historical/genre specific documentary focusing on any music + dance content. Proposals in development or production that combine quality, originality + innovation were welcome.Duration:
Each pitch lasts 15 minutes in total, whereas 7 minutes have to comprise the presentation of the project including a trailer and 8 minutes are reserved for a Q&A with the expert Jury and the audience of industry professionals. Moreover, any member of the expert Jury can request a private Follow Up Session, in which further details can be discussed and clarified. This is a unique opportunity to get precious one-on-one time with decision makers and initiate fruitful collaborations for your project!Date + Location:

Project #1: Women who Dance

Once upon a time, there was a small rocky country of multiple differences. A land where, since the dawn of time, dance has been a survival instinct for its inhabitants –an urgency to ward off death and to celebrate life. A promised land in which men and women, from across the globe, dance together, transcending hardship and conflict. All of these dancers, choreographers, performers, and theater directors - of Cuban, Moroccan,Arab-Israeli, Russian, American, and Ethiopian descent - use dance to come together, and gracefully overcome differences in all their forms. A veritable Babel community, whose only common language is that of Dance, sending a message of tolerance and peace.
Project #2: The Last Gladiators in the Opera Ring - Of the Devine Voice in Confusing Times

A moving journey exploring the possibilities of the human voice - introducing fearless voice gladiators and those who have just begun their ascend to the operatic Olymp, the production follows the Last Gladiators in their quest for the perfect sound.
Project #3: Time, No Changes: Miles Davis' Second Great Quintet

Focusing on the music, the band dynamic and how it all came to an end, the production unfolds the magic that is Miles Davis and his group of exceptional young musicians, who are concidered to be the most influential force in jazz. This is the untold story of Miles Davis.
Project #4: Breaking Music 02 - Klezmer
AMC Networks International – Latin America / Marcelo Lezama
Prominent violin and cello performers Kristine and Margarita Balanas receive a strange anonymous proposal, which leads them to embark on a mystical adventure, diving into the Klezmer music world and ending up narrating their musical discovery in front of a live audience.

Project #1: Alternates (Bergantian)

This VR experience depicts two artists practicing their art amidst social pressure, censorship and a gentrified neighborhood, raising consciousness of the fragility of civilization whilst appreciating the immutability and ephemerality of nature.
Project #2: The Cathedral of Monet

This VR Project extends the immersive experience created by Asisi´s panorama of the same name into the digital space - leaving the user with surprising questions about physical phenomenons, the essence of art and the meaning of the human condition.
Project #3: The Sound of the Ages
Beyond Frames GmbH / Michael Gebendorfer
This Virtual Reality series presents viewers a completely new perspective on music-historically significant sites across Europe, allowing the viewer to immerse in an emotional trip combining classical music with VR.
