Dreams Covered in Chrome is a poetic, theme-driven documentary that delves into the subconscious world of women in Bulqiza, a chrome mining town in northern Albania. Every morning, a bus filled only with women travels up the steep hills toward the chrome galleries. While the men descend into the tunnels, the women remain on the surface, sorting, cleaning, and searching through waste for traces of chrome in harsh, physically demanding conditions. The film opens a window into their interior lives through their dreams—visions shaped by fear, memory, and desire—that reveal hidden truths words alone cannot express.

About the event

The MakeCoProDox Forum is a unique platform dedicated to strengthening co-production in the field of creative documentary across the Balkans. Since its creation in 2019 within the 10th edition of MakeDox, the Forum has become a vital meeting point for filmmakers, producers, industry professionals, and film centers in the region.

The 7th edition took place from 25 to 27 August 2025 at the Youth Cultural Center in Skopje, during the 16th MakeDox Creative Documentary Film Festival. This year’s central question "Who cares about reality?" framed collective discussions on the creative and ethical challenges of storytelling, the lack of strong national support systems, and the need to build resilience, care, and co-creation in the documentary field.

Through pitching presentations, case studies, and cross-regional collaboration, the Forum continues to foster professional exchange and international connections. In 2025, delegations from the Visegrad region and France further enriched the discussions, underlining the growing international reach of the MakeCoProDox Forum.
