From June 24 to June 27, 2019, the China Pavilion will be attending the Sunny Side of the Doc for the third time, landing on La Rochelle beaches with excellent documentary programs, fresh new talent, institutions, and key information about China’s new international coproduction policies.
More Chinese and international documentary film production and distribution institutions will work together to develop content, share resources, collaborate on communications and increase distribution.
The China Pavilion debuted at the Sunny Side of the Doc in 2017, promoting a wealth of media cooperations and dialogues. This year, the China Pavilion will attend this documentary event in La Rochelle for the third time. As the organizer, China Intercontinental Communication Center (CICC) together with other Chinese exhibitors will come to this world-leading trading platform of international documentary film and documentary content to celebrate its 30th anniversary, drive media cooperation and interaction, build a platform for information sharing and promote closer cultural ties between China and other countries and regions.
After three years of active presence at Sunny Side of the Doc, the Chinese Pavilion introduces this year during « China Hour » (June 25 at 4pm in the Auditorium) the new co-production policy decided in China, already implemented and illustrated by new projects like The Mission to The Moon (CCTV9 / Camera Lucida Productions), A small walk that reveals the diary of a man engaged in a personal fight against the desert, or the series of 5 episodes Wild Treasures of China, fruit of a Sino-French co-production whose signing ceremony will take place during the China Night (by invitation).
Alongside CCTV9 and CICC, several regional channels will be present, with their projects and their potential, as well as CGTN channels (in foreign languages), and several production companies.
In 2019, 18 television stations, production and distribution institutions and academic research institutions are expected to visit La Rochelle with the CHINA PAVILION A19 and B19.
