Job description: Jessica Harrop joined the Simons Foundation in 2019 as the supervising producer for Sandbox Films. She has dedicated her career to inspiring people about science through film and has produced content for a wide variety of outlets including Netflix, Showtime, Discovery Channel, the National Geographic Channel, and PBS. Previously, Harrop was the senior field producer and a writer for Bill Nye Saves the World (Netflix). Before that, she was the senior science producer for First in Human, a documentary series on Discovery Channel about clinical trials at the National Institutes of Health. Harrop traveled the world working on the Emmy Award-winning series Years of Living Dangerously (Showtime). As part of that project, she prepared Thomas Friedman for an interview with President Obama about climate policy and climbed on horseback with a team of scientists to drill for ice cores on a glacier. Most recently, she was the showrunner and executive producer of a new Netflix documentary series called Follow This.
