Biography

Guillaume Lenel

In 2012, I myself was commissioned by France Télévisons to create a new intro sequence for the show “Thalassa”. I did it. My mom was very proud … I was of course too, but it was starting to miss something. The desire to make my own movies never left me. I started to write, with difficulties first, and then I started to find a way between graphical writing and narrative storyline. I made a medium-length fiction film live action in 2005, “Apollo”, I also led the development of an animation film in stop motion. It took me a long time, but I gradually began to accept the idea of structuring the writing work. I had the chance to make a museology film for the Museum of Confluences in Lyon, and more recently a second for the National Museum of Natural History. It was a sort of virtual reality film about meteorites, and we tried to make it accurate scientifically, but also spectacular and poetic. Making a 3D film is about motion design, the articulation between meaning and form that gives an identity, and gives rise to an emotion. This is my strentgh, the basis on which I rely : the image, the establishment of a graphic and musical atmosphere. A coherence. I rely on this strength when I embark on a new project, it allows me to address what I do not control with more confidence and serenity. I’m currently writing a live action fiction feature that mixes a fantastic and science. I also write ‘Sarcophage’, a fiction in virtual reality for which I received a help for writing from the CNC. It also takes place in space. But the major theme is the mix between spatial and intimate exploration of a character. I am currently directing my first science documentary ‘Asteroids, the new space Eldorado’. It has won the call to projects organised by Ushuaia TV and Pariscience 2018. I’m working too on a second film project which is called “Made In Space”. It’s a sort of continuity of the first one.

Project : “Asteroid, the new space eldorado?”

Synopsis : “Asteroids” is a film at the crossroads. Based on the fascinating theme of space exploitation, it confronts two aspects of our civilization : its need to explore future territories, and its way of managing the exploitation of the present territories.
