Recovering the V.A.T.

In accordance to European legislation, any market or tradeshow organizer is required to charge a 19.6% state tax on any service or product rendered (in France it is known by the acronym TVA).

 

You may be able to recover the VAT for certain fees:

¬ Stand rental
¬ Installation of your stand
¬ Several stand amenities (water, electricity, furniture, decoration, telephone lines, etc.)
¬ Stand security and cleaning services
¬ Invitation letters, etc

 

You won't be able to recover the TVA for certain fees:

¬ car fees
¬ restaurant fees
¬ hotel fees

 

COMPANIES BASED IN A EU COUNTRY can recover the French VAT by providing a certificate justifying that they are subject to other VAT taxes in their own country. Send your documentation directly to:

CAREFUL : Companies that are not based in the EU are required to designate a tax representative in France in order to submit similar documentation.
