I wish to thank you for this most successful edition of "Sunny Side of the Doc". I must admit I have not participated in too many of them and I deeply regret it. I met Cathérine Lamour my fellow commissioning editor of Canal+ and we discussed about the young spirit of Sunny Side compared with the old times. The congress has not aged at all but proved to be hip in the best of its sense. The future of documentaries was one of the most innovative and trend making subjects which was broadly discussed in a most practical way. This stands for the influencial stake in the future that "Sunny Side of the Doc" has gained in our industry with most valuable creative and economic effects for the genre of documentaries. The grown intercontinental awareness level gives another proof of the key role "Sunny Side" has accumulated from year to year. Three big documentary projects of our company received strong support during this event. We acquired several co-producers for them from the international "Premier League" of documentaries which qualifies the development and accelerates the process of financing and production significantly.
What else can I say than thank you, Yves and all the Team, for the imporatant support we are getting from you.
Elizabeth Radshaw - Toronto Documentary Forum
Many wonderful wishes to you and Yves of gratitude for an excellent Sunny Side of the Docs!
Congratulations on a massive success and on celebrating 20 epic years! I am constantly impressed with the precision and class which your event is exercised. The easy flow of logistics was seamless matched with cutting edge session content - it was wonderful to attend and learn so much! All of the OMDC producers felt they had the best business positioning for the European market which will result in great deals and partnerships.
Thank you for having Hot Docs participate in BIPS this year. It was an excellent initiative which I know will continue to grow and achieve excellent results in matching content with financing.
Thank you for asking me to moderate – what an exciting challenge and not an easy task! I am pleased that the BIPS was very fruitful for the projects. Well done on an amazing initiative!
You are excellent hosts and innovators in the industry! Congratulations on 20 years! Thank you for the great business and excellent parties!!!

I wanted to thank you for having invited me to attend Sunnyside of the Doc. I was very honored to participate in the Funders panel along side colleagues from IDFA, Sundance and other organizations. During the week I took many meetings with filmmakers ers to introduce them to the Gucci Documentary Fund, Reframe and other terrific programs of TFI. For Reframe, I have many contracts to send out as follow up. For Gucci, I enjoyed the pitch sessions and will be sharing the project book and my notes with Beth Janson of TFI who is copied here.
Thank you, again, for this rewarding opportunity. We are very much looking forward to a continuing dialogue with your market and I am very much looking forward to seeing you on the festival/market circuit.
Judy Levenson - National Geographic Channel
I wanted to thank you for providing me the opportunity to attend Sunnyside of the Doc. It was a wonderful conference and I enjoyed meeting all of the terrific producers. I hope that we will be able to do some work with them in the near future. I hope that I was able to provide the producers some insight as to what we are doing at Nat Geo Channel US. Personally, I found it fascinating to hear what the other buyers are commissioning and where they are headed as well as the new ways stories are being told.
I am sorry we didn’t have a chance to have that drink but I look forward to it next year.

Let me thank you for an extremely productive time in La Rochelle.
The ratio between decision makers and content producers/distributors is probably unrivalled.
For me, La Rochelle this year was an ideal mix of scheduled market meetings, and unscheduled encounters with professional colleagues from all over Europe. We´ll start our new channel Spiegel Geschichte on Saturday.
Your event has helped us to bring some projects on the way, that will definitely leave a markt on the quality of our editorial offer.
Esther van Messel - First Hand Films International Sales
Thank you again for inviting me for the market and these sessions. They were (partly) really interesting and I was happy to attend and to consult filmmakers and producers following their pitches.
I’ll be also very happy to give you more detailed feedback if you like and I congratulate you to this nice event and anniversary and wish you fun and success for the next 20 editions...

I have been meaning to e-mail you sooner. Thank you soooooooooo much for all your help in arranging everything and taking care of our delegates! Today, the last of our delegates, Sayumi and Mika, came back to the office after an extended business trip, and Sayumi showed me the photos of Sunny Side. So I take this opportunity to write to you now. Everything looked so nice! The two Tomoko’s also came back last week and reported to me about how kind and helpful you and your whole team were. Everyone seemed to have enjoyed being at Sunny Side. We are all very grateful.
I must say, it was a pleasure working with you again this year like always and I look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thank you again!
Ed Barreveld - Storyline Entertainment Inc.
Thank you both again for your support of The Market and your hospitality during SSD. Everyone at Storyline had a fabulous time and the market (yours, not oursJ) was very productive for us. We’re confident that we’ve obtained the missing financing for The Market and I’ll follow up with prospective financiers with the hope that we can go into production in the Fall.
Charlie Phillips - Sheffield Doc/Fest
I just wanted to write and thank you for a great Sunnyside – I thought it was a real triumph, where it always felt like there were at least 3 brilliant things happening at once all the time. It was extremely useful for us at Doc/Fest, and I can only congratulate you on creating such a great atmosphere of collaboration and friendliness.
So well done, thanks for having us!
