Synopsis / Treatment (english)

Laura, a Brazilian illegal immigrant in NYC, lives a double life: at age 60, she goes out every night to upscale parties, restaurants, movie premieres and, yet, she lives in a decadent tenement building, where she has to share the bathroom with her entire floor. This documentary is an in-depth look at Laura's mystery and the plight of this latin-american immigrant who has to cheat poverty on an everyday basis. Will the exile promoted by the American dream endure the present recession?
