The first Asian Side of the Doc took place in Hong Kong, from 22 to 24 March 2010

Asian Side of the Doc attracted 240 participants in Hong Kong.

At its first event, ASD achieved its goal: building a bridge between Asian and European professionals.
Organised as part of FILMART, one of the main Asian Cinema/Audiovisual fairs, it had a strong impact, bringing together 80 decision-makers, including 24 Europeans representing 15 public television channels who were able to review the 24 projects selected and pitched.

Some have already committed to one or another of these projects, including SUNTV (China) for the “Poverty” series led by Radio Denmark and the BBC. The project presented by the INA (“Child Slave Labourers” by Hubert Dubois) secured many commitments from both European and Asian broadcasters.

- The presentation panels of different Asian broadcasters and producers helped the Europeans to understand the needs and problems of their new contacts in concrete terms.
- NHK (Japan), KBS (Korea), SICHUAN TV, GDA and CNEX (China), as well as the Indian delegation, confirmed that they would be attending the next SUNNY SIDE in La Rochelle (22nd-25th June).
Backed by MEDIA INTERNATIONAL, the CNC, ARTE, VODEO, the NFB and HKTDC, MEHK, LIC, MEDILAN and BANG Productions, next year’s ASD will be held in another Asian city: Seoul or Singapore.
