On Thursday 23 June 2016, a special History day labelled “H-DAY” becomes the annual gathering of all international documentary professionals involved in history programming, allowing them to collaborate, exchange information, sell/buy concepts and share their current problems, anxieties or challenges within the genre.

All you have to do is stay until the last day of the marketplace event and be part of an inspiring showcase of outstanding history makers & programmes.

Elizabeth has personally been nominated and won many international researcher awards. She has lead workshops and seminars in both North America and in Europe.
Elizabeth serves as a board member of the FOCAL International Executive and WIFT Toronto. Formerly she was on the board of Impact Media and AV Trust. She is a founding chairperson of the Visual Researchers’ Society of Canada and is a member of DOC and WIFT Toronto.

He started his career at RTL Germany, working for a political magazine, and then took the role of Managing Editor at Spiegel TV in 1997. He aspiringly worked on building up Spiegel’s segment as TV service production and was promoted to Editor-in-Chief in 2011. He has written and directed award-winning documentaries and docu-dramas for TV channels as ARD, ZDF, ARTE, BBC, National Geographic, and Discovery Channel.
Since May 2014, Marc works as a commissioning editor for History programmes at ARD/NDR.

At the same time he served as a go-to script doctor for Hollywood feature films. He then went on to be a presenter and producer for Current Affairs at the CBC. He has recently come off an 8-year stint as VP of Production and Development for National Geographic Channels International. History Day at Sunny Side of the Doc aims to create a real forum for the history factual community.
A dedicated advisory board has been set up to gather input, collect ideas for sessions and suggest panellists. Members include Stephen Segaller (WNET) and Bill Locke (Lion Television).

Now, as Director of Specialist Factual, Bill focuses on history, science, features, arts and documentary for broadcasters all over the world - covering diverse subjects from Chinese Emperors to Syrian schoolchildren, newly discovered fossils to Greek heroes; in styles from drama-documentary to presenter led investigations, living history to full animation.
Bill is very experienced at working on co-productions – in the last five years he has made films for BBC, C4, ITV, Five, Sky, ARTE, History Channel, Nat Geo, Smithsonian, PBS, TRT and CCTV. He also frequently works with presenters – he has recently completed a new series about Ancient Egypt presented by Prof Joann Fletcher and a series about evolution, presented by Prof. Richard Fortey.
