This year the key word will be RESISTANCES. In the plural, as all documentaries have to be defended from many dangers…
Throughout the world, filmmakers have real stories to tell and share on all types of screen. We consider that these films, wherever they come from, are of public interest and concern.
For its 23rd edition SUNNY SIDE will be the International Market where projects will be exchanged and coproduced, where completed films will find their outlets.
We will be presenting new opportunities, market trends, successes and innovations.
We will be welcoming 1,800 professionals from 65 countries.

For June 2012, we have decided to focus on films and projects which can move most easily between all these countries:
- Specialst factual (Histoire/Science/Discovery…)
- Features, for cinema or TV (including 3D)
- Multiplatform programmes, which even if they are not yet being exchanged, are an avenue for future development…
We will be highlighting three countries from three different continents:
- Germany and European co-productions.
- China and its new documentary wave: we will be programming 12 recent, representative documentaries.
- The Arab world and the Middle East, with the 5th anniversary of Al Jazeera …
There will also be some NEW ELEMENTS:
- The BIPS – our pitching sessions – will be cut to five themes: History / Science and the Environment / Investigation / Features / and Favourites, for really innovative projects.
- Documentaries being edited/finalised – DOCS IN PROGRESS – will be selected and offered to buyers.
- MULTIPLATFORM PROJECTS will be presented on line before the opening of the market.
We will also be launching the LATIN SIDE OF THE DOC, which will be held in Mexico City in November 2012, with complicity of Festival DocsDF.
