Asian Side of the Doc is an annual international co-production rendezvous firmly designed as a Co-production Market & Partner Search Event. After Hong Kong in 2010 followed by Seoul in 2011,  Asian Side of the Doc took place in Tokyo in 2012. Its main objective is to create reciprocal new co-production opportunities for both Asian and European documentary producers and commissioning editors, allowing new ventures within a fast-growing market. The event focuses on the projects themselves as well as on individual encounters. It brings together 500 participants who get to know “who’s who”, and the projects that are carried in through the pitch sessions and the catalogue; the panels and case studies provide concrete information on what are the opportunities but also what are the difficulties, and there are frequent networking opportunities, such as coffee breaks, lunches and cocktails.
